Ramblings
I am fit to be tied! Just when things are going good something always happens to change things and the older I get the harder it is for changes. I am not computer literate, just a novice. So when I finally figure how to do something on the computer it's quite an accomplishment. Then wonder of all wonders something happens ( a computer demon ) and nothing works like it did. For instance, I am not able to import pictures from my camera to the computer like I was doing and have to learn another way to do it and my printer and computer all of the sudden decide to change how to print documents. Am I making sense? Does this happen to you? What gives anyway? You can see how frustrated I am. Hopefully, I'll get it all figured out and things will get back to normal. I don't know why I let things like this bug me.
On another note, I am so tired of the cold and cloudy weather we've had here this last week. It has definitely put me in a funk. We've had some rain but according to the weatherman not enough. Our county and those surrounding us are under a burn ban because it's so dry. I am happiest when I can get out in our yard and dig in the dirt. I have plans for new flowerbeds but it's too cold and dreary to get started. The weatherman promises us warmer weather this weekend. Boy, am I ready for it.

I'm also anxious to get back out on the deck to enjoy the warm weather that we were experiencing a few weeks ago. At least the pups are keeping me amused with all their mischievousness and tomorrow I'm going out to lunch with a friend. Now if I can get my computer woes figured out I'll be in a much better mood. Won't you be glad?

Breakfast of Champions
Every Saturday morning my husband goes to the doughtnut shop to buy me a maple bar for breakfast. Saturday is the one day of the week that I stray from eating healthy for breakfast. I actually could eat one everyday but know that would throw my cholesterol levels way off base, so I limit my intake of sugar and fat to Saturday mornings with this one indulgence. This Saturday morning ritual must not be hurting me too bad because my last doctor check-up showed that my cholesterol level was 180. As long as I can keep it below 200 I'm happy. Do you ever stray from healthy eating for one indulgence or am I the only guilty one?

Low Fat Dessert
Found this recipe on another blog and thought it sounded delicious. I made it and it was very good, so I just had to share it with you. It's called Grape Salad. It is so easy to make and can be made quick. It would be good anytime but with summer coming this would be perfect for any get-together.
Low Fat Grape Salad
1 1/2 lbs. green seedless grapes
1 1/2 lbs. red seedless grapes
8 oz lite sour cream
8 oz low-fat cream cheese
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Remove stems from grapes and rinse. Beat sour cream, cream cheese, granulated sugar and vanilla with mixer. Stir grapes into the mixture and place in a serving dish. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over the top of grape mixture.
Took this to a potluck with friends and everyone wanted the recipe. It was a hit.
Enjoy,
Christine

Ready for Summer
Not only have I been working in our yard all week but I also have been getting the new screened-in deck ready for the summer. I went to Lowes yesterday and bought some plants and then went to Big Lots and bought some pillows for the furniture. This is all I plan to do for now.
I've been taking advantage of the warm afternoons relaxing out on the deck after working so hard cleaning out the flowerbeds. I enjoy reading and a cold glass of tea when lounging. We will really enjoy the deck this summer and plan to do a lot of entertaining with our family out here. I am so glad we decided to go ahead with this project.

Busy Spring Break
For the last two weeks I have been so busy that I haven't had time to blog. Does that happen to anyone else? I've been taking advantage of the warm temperatures and good weather by doing a lot of clean up yardwork. Things I should have done last fall but didn't.
Getting the garden area cleaned out and ready for early veggie plantings.
These huge holly bushes have to come out. They are on each side of the shed in the backyard and are diseased and we hate them. We have taken out the ones on the east side of the shed and now need to cut these down and remove. This has been a big job.
The shed will be repainted and then a new flowerbed will go along the side of it where the holly bushes were. We've also been cleaning out other flowerbeds and raking leaves like crazy.
And speaking of the grandsons, we've had both of them during the day during spring break. They definitely keep us on our toes. We took them to a park one day for a picnic and playtime. They enjoyed that since there were kids there they knew. I guess other grandparents had the same idea.
Hopefully, I'll get back in the groove of visiting blogs and writing more on mine next week. Not only will "Rowdy Says" be back but now "Rocky's Antics" will be featured on my blog. These two characters keep me laughing constantly. Thanks for visiting.

The grandson has been helping too.

Family Pictures Are Meant To Be Seen
A school picture of my husband around the time I was born.
My first grade school picture.
The other day I decided to get down one of the boxes of pictures of my husband and I when we were children. I also collected some of the pictures of our two boys when they were children and placed them all in a decorative box to put on the coffee table in the livingroom. I got this idea out of a magazine that I subscribe to. (Yes, I subscribe to alot of magazines.) I did this so that when our grandchildren come over they can go through them and see us as children at their age. Also, they enjoy seeing their dads as children and the things they would get into. The grandchildren have already gone through the box over and over again. They have lots of questions about the pictures and it's fun to go over old times with them. Now instead of the boxes of pictures sitting up on a shelf in a closet, they are being seen as they were meant to be. Isn't that why we take pictures?

Heaven Is For Real
Last week I went to the doctor for a checkup and overheard her tell one of the nurses that works for her that she just finished a good book and suggested she read it. I made a mental note to find the book at our local bookstore and read it myself. Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo has 154 pages and took me two hours to read. It's a true story about his four year old son who left his body during surgery for an emergency apendectomy. He authenticated the claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on. He talked of visiting heaven and relayed stories told to him by people he met there whom he had never met in life, sharing events that happened even before he was born. He also astonished his parents with descriptions and obscure details about heaven that matched the Bible exactly, though he had not yet learned to read.
As a believer that heaven is for real, this book edified my belief and gave me hope that I, too, will someday see and experience the beauty of heaven and see loved ones that have pasted through the door from this world to eternity.
Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:29

Rowdy Says
My world has been turned completely upside down, my apple cart is upside down as well and life has thrown me a swerve ball and I am NOT a happy camper. I am MAD! I have thrown fits, bit the hand that feeds me and have gone on a hunger strike. All this in a week and a half and nothing has changed. The "puppy from hell" will not leave me alone. He torments me constantly. He thinks my food is his food, my bed his bed and my chewies his chewies. Sometimes I get so frustrated I chase him and nip at his heels and he thinks I'm playing. He just doesn't get it. I don't know how much more of this I can take!!!!!
