The Castle

We have an entertainment venue in our small town called The Castle. Every holiday there is something going on to beckon those from all over the area to come and be entertained. Since it's October, The Castle is offering a spook house and hayrides that are not for the wimpy, games for all ages, pony rides, pumpkins for sale, petting zoo for the little ones, mazes, food, etc. every weekend. I don't usually go to things like this but I volunteered to help out Friday night for our local food pantry which was collecting canned goods. For those that brought canned food they were given a discount on their tickets.

There were five of us working.

Sorting and stacking the cans into categories.

About halfway into the shift a friend and I took a break and walked around to see all the sights. We saw a lot of young people and parents with children having a good time in a safe enviroment. It was well patroled with security.

Employees of The Castle walked around in costume and greeted everyone in character. This couple wanted to suck your blood. Werewolves lurked behind trees. All in fun of course.

Mazes made of hay bales were for the kids.

Games for all ages were held inside the castle.

My friend, Dawn, at the petting zoo.

I was amazed at the generosity of so many people who brought more than enough canned goods for the food pantry. It is a great way to help those in need of food. If asked, I'll work again next year, if they'll have me.
