What Was I Thinking?

I started another project in our kitchen this week. I have felt for some time that the wallpaper in our kitchen needed removing. It is outdated and the kitchen needs an updated look. I thought that I would start on one wall and then continue around the room. I have found out that removing wallpaper that has been on the walls since 1987 is harder to remove than I thought it would be. It is going to be a slow and laboring process. After working a few hours I quit for the day. This old body can't take it.

                                                                           Day 1

                                                                          Day 2

                                                                    This is next.

The wall behind the dinningroom hutch will take me a week the rate I'm going.

Rowdy keeps watch as I work my tail off.

This weekend I am going to party with the family and then Monday I'll get started on the kitchen again. Sanding and painting will be in the works soon I hope.

Hope everyone has had a great week.    Christine

What a project! But it will look so nice when it's all done. We repainted our bathroom downstairs last spring and had to remove a border. Hubby told me he was never, ever putting up another border again. They are so beautiful when up but a pain to get down. Enjoy your party!

Ohhh I can't wait to see the finished product! My husband and I find EVERYTHING takes us a lot longer to complete. Sigh....it's a sign of the times...as in ours is advancing at a rapid rate, lol!

My sisters and I have talked a lot lately about the fact that it takes us 2 or 3 times longer to do a project than it did 20 or 30 years ago. : ) My motto is 'slow & steady wins the race'.
Your kitchen makeover will be amazing when it's finished. I can't wait to see it!

Smiles,

Our kitchen is ripped down to the STUDS. But honest...tearing off wallpaper is the hardest thing ever! I showed pics today of our entry with the molding off and you can see the pink/green striped wallpaper peeking through. We couldn't get it off so we textured over it! ARGH!

Can't wait to see the outcome! xoRebecca

Ohhh, no way to turn this project into a party? Invite gals in? Feed them cake and tea?

I've always liked the look of paper but it's so much easier to update when the walls are painted instead. Enjoy the partying this weekend!

I have a couple of walls with outdated wallpaper too. Years ago I removed wallpaper from 2 bathrooms (by myself as well). After that I decided NO MORE WALLPAPER.

I need new carpet too but must wait until I have a few fewer dogs. As my dogs depart for the Bridge they will not be replaced. I have saved enough dogs. I am going to end up with just one dog eventually.

Whoa girl...........this is one of the things I have at the bottom of my list of "love its".. :-) They do make a potion to put on the wall that helps. I've also tried a steamer......that helps too. And, one of those gizmos that scores the paper so the liquid gets underneath the paper to loosen it up. You could even google solutions for removing paper. Maybe there's something that would make it easier.

Bless your heart....... Hope you get through the tough part soon so you can get to the fun parts!
